Styrian Provincial Archives

The Steiermärkisches Landesarchiv (Styrian Archives) has a collection of around 30,000 posters from the 19th and 20th Centuries, which are divided into the areas of politics, sports, culture and economy. The collection is digitized and recorded in Archivis Pro.

Dr. Eva Klein brings her knowledge of art history and design and her experience with the specification and development of historical posters, which she has acquired in the course of its current activities, and verifies the current metadatas of the poster collection. The focus is on the poster around 1900, as it applied art-historical and socio-culturally significant innovations in the context of the history of poster and marks in Styria the beginning of the discipline of graphic design and visual communication.
