University of Music and Performing Arts
With a current library stock of some 300,000 “traditional” information carriers (books, music printings, audiovisual media, manuscripts, early printings) and approx. 160,000 electronic resources (eCDs, eBooks, eScores, eJournals, etc.) the Library of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz is the largest university library of all universities of the arts in Austria.
The University Library is a service-oriented and quality-certified scientific/academic and artistic special library which is also open to the public.
It provides literature and information for teaching, research and the arts in an innovative manner and aspires to help preserving quality in these fields.
Tradition and innovation characterize the aims of the library focusing on the development of a digital library and long-term archiving of the library’s stock of special books and publications.
The collections of rare books and special items comprise some 15,000 precious works including the estates of Styrian composers, music autographs, manuscripts of music, letters, first and early prints of music (17th – 19th century), Musica theoretica before 1900, facsimile editions, photos. This stock of special collections shall be made available to the interested public in the framework of the initiative “Repositorium Steirisches Wissenschaftserbe”.
